How can I take advantage of getting free stuff during pregnancy?

I want to know how I can get free stuff for being pregnant like strollers and car seats for free. Isn’t it true that if you go to a certain type of pregnancy class that you can get free stuff for your baby? I know there are state programs for people that are at or around the poverty level, but I am not near that level. Are there other ways to get free stuff for your baby? I am 26 and this is my first baby so I am trying to get some money saving advice from other moms.

Oh wow, if you have family members who are willing to get you those things you can get them as gifts at a baby shower but there are no such programs except for the disadvantaged. Try resale shops and CraigsList like the rest of us for discounted prices.

Not to sound harsh, but there’s a reason they have those programs for people in poverty – BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO POOR TO AFFORD STUFF!

If you are lucky enough to be in a position to financially support your child, then do so. Trying to take advantage of a system designed for those who genuinely need it is pretty low.

I suggest that if you want to save money, try buying second hand baby things, or look online for discount coupons sales and special offers.

If you are a little short on cash, there may be some sort of assistance you can apply for, but if you don’t need financial assistance, then applying for such is just dishonest.

You can get like diaper samples or formula samples but not things like strollers that I know of anyway. If you’re looking to save money, hit garage sales.I see great stuff all the time. Also try Craigslist.
Just make sure for carseats, etc. that the item hasn’t been recalled and meets current safety standards.

Some crisis pregnancy centers offer those kids of classes, but they are meant for low income people who can not afford to buy them on their own. They are also the cheapest stuff around. In the time you would spend on these remedial classes you could just go work at your job and buy the stuff yourself. Seriously, do you really want a car seat that costs $30 new? Is it worth a couple hours of your time?

There are always free samples from the big baby companies, but they are just samples. Huggies will send you 2 diapers and a pack of 4 wipes to try. Formula companies will send you enough to make a couple bottles… its just a try my product offer. Some companies give out promotional items when they are about to release a new product… when that sweatpeace thing for babies came out the company gave out free swaddling blankets to go with it. Mind you, I signed up for one when I was 7 months pregnant and by the time it came my child had outgrown both the swaddling blanket and the sweatpeace soother they hoped I would buy.

If you want free stuff you should have someone throw you a baby shower…

If you are nowhere near the poverty level, then you shoudn’t recieve that stuff for free unless they are gifts. Don’t be greedy.

    Money saving tips;

    Buy generic diapers and wipes.
Breastfeed your baby… or if you can’t/won’t, buy generic brand formula.
Buy clothes and toys from resale shops.
After you baby shower, Go on CraigsList and search for the “big Ticket” Items that you didn’t get as gifts, but make sure they are clean, safe, and in good condition.
Look for deals and sales at your local stores

You probably don’t want to get carseats and Cribs secondhand, unless you know that they are safe, and that the carseat has never been in a wreck.

*Most* generic brands are just as good as name brands, just cheaper… keep that in mind to save money.
